About Umed
For more than six decades, Umed's name has represented textile knowledge, manufacturing capability and a commitment to dependable quality.
Our Story
“Umed” means “Hope” a philosophy that has remained connected to the organisation throughout its growth.
Umed's journey began in 1964 in Madhavnagar, Sangli, under the leadership of Late Shri Mulchand G. Malu and Shri Nemichand R. Malu.
Beginning with textile sourcing and supply, the organisation entered manufacturing as demand for dependable quality grew. In 1998, Umed established manufacturing facilities for weaving preparation and conventional powerloom production. Continued investment brought high-speed sizing, automatic shuttle looms and eventually modern shuttleless technologies into the manufacturing ecosystem.
Today, Umed combines spinning and weaving capabilities to serve textile requirements across international markets.
